CNC Turning

Meva has a stock of complex components for turning, the execution of threading, carving and heavy milling machines. All lathes are equipped with a visual and manual control of the work area and of the process of removal of the shavings. The hardware technology of the machines allows for the use of power tools with high performances and reduced downtime for the interchanging of the tool; the digital motors, in combination with the motor-spindles provide the highest accuracy with a high performance. The lathes equipped with the Y -axis control allow us to perform multiple machining tasks in regards to high tolerances and high volume.


The sliding head lathes with a bar feeder completes the range of instrumental assets of the department.


CNC Milling

Vertical milling is a cold removal that occurs with a clamped work piece and a mobile tool post. The operation, apparently simple, requires special precautions to optimize the working parameters such as: the cutting speed, the geometry and the type of tools, in relation to the removal to be performed and the characteristics of the materials to be processed.


MEVA has machining centers for milling of multiple controlled axes. The command and machine management of the computerized numerical controls are represented by the high tech machines of the industry. They operate, in fact, in Siemens 840D 3D platforms.

The Grinding Process

CNC Grinding

Plunge grinding is a fundamental operation in precision manufacturing of round items, to get shafts with high dimensional accuracy, high tolerances and optimal surface finishes. The grinding process is performed by means of an abrasive wheel which acts on the sections that are in direct contact with the work piece. For example, to build bearing seats. By the removal of micro shavings, we can reach sub-micron levels of tolerances and minimal surface roughness.


The result is influenced by three factors:

1) From the characteristics of the particle size and the chemical and physical composition of the grinding wheel;
2) From the working parameters, such as the cutting speed and feeder speed; and
3) From the machines that can work with extreme precision, equipped with sophisticated control equipment during the process.

The CNC centerless grinding machine completes the range of applications for large scale jobs where it is essential to have great potential production and extraordinary competitiveness.



The rolling process consists of a cold deformation known as cold working. The artifact is stressed beyond its elastic limit with a modification of the crystalline structure to a fiber structure that follows the profile of the rolled section. The absence of the crystalline incoherence ensures a high resistance to breakage.


The applications are aimed at obtaining gear shafts for submersible motors, for endless screws, for transmission shafts, and specific implementations for the transmission of power.


The advantages of the process lead to an improvement of the surface roughness with a drastic reduction in the friction between sliding surfaces also benefiting the noise in the transmission. The plastic deformation also involves the hardening of the worked surfaces with the work piece's reduction of wear.


The modern hydraulic CN rolling ensures maximum accuracy and dimensional reproducibility. Low roughness and low friction are synonymous with superior efficiency and durability of the transmission.

Rotor Insertion

inserimento del rotoreThe production of the shafts is completed with the insertion of the rotor of various characteristics and sizes. The locking of the rotor is performed by interference or by knurling the packing section. The operation is performed with hydraulic presses, completed with a set of equipment developed by numerous technicians, and the product reliability is guaranteed with the extensive experience of the operators.

For the rotating bodies assembled, it is important to perform the proper balancing to reduce the inevitable effect of rotating unbalance, especially to:


- reduce the mechanical stress of the rotating elements,
- reduce the noise generated by vibrations from being unbalanced, and
- improve the functionality of the module and increase its operating life.


The frameworks of electric motors, above a certain threshold, are subjected to balancing according to precise international standards, chosen by the designer. 

Meva uses computerized balancers and performs dynamic balancing of the rotors by adding weights.




Friction Welding

Friction welding is a process of welding two elements in the solid phase: one element is made to rotate at a high speed while the second is exerted at an axial force.


The friction between touching surfaces, produces frictional heat that allows welding without using sealing materials. The localized heating on the surfaces of the circular cross section, at temperatures lower than that of the melting point of the two components, causes a homogenization between the two micro structural elements thus obtaining a perfect weld, free of porosity, cracks, and surface imperfections.


The process, applied to the welding of carbon steels with stainless steels to obtain motor shafts, for example, for electric pumps, allows having the end of the shaft in contact with corrosive liquids in stainless steel, while the body of the shaft in carbon steel retains the ferromagnetic characteristics with a high performance of the rotor.


There are three advantages from this single process: resistance against corrosion, high motor efficiency, and low cost of the raw material.

Meva was a pioneer of this technology, and it uses its robotized and manual loading machines for shafts of large sizes and smaller series.
